Contact Info: Plurk: Backagain || AIM: Megumi Sendo
Other Characters Played: Sir Integra Hellsing
Preferred Housing: 335 Brady Ln (permissions granted)
Character Name: Nathan Wallace | The Repoman
Character Series: Repo! The Genetic Opera
Character Age: 40
Background: Here
Personality:
A once younger and happier man, since his wife's tragic death Nathan's personality as it stands now is one fueled by paranoia, self-loathing and all-encompassing guilt. Described by a former friend as "never…a man of many words", Nathan is not one to hem and haw when he can get right to the point in any situation. His relationships with other people, aside from his daughter Shilo, are stilted and have an air of subtle discontent. Used to working alone, it's customary for him to receive work assignments via message instead of in person, adding another level of disconnect from other people.
It's apparent he was on friendly terms with Blind Mag at one point, enough that she is one of the few to recognize how far he has fallen. Nathan affords her a certain respect as one of Marni's best friends, putting his foot down when ordered to repossess her eyes, at the cost of provoking Rotti Largo's fury. The Largo family, by contrast, make a point to exploit his downward spiral and push him to the extreme.
Though devoted utterly to his daughter, the love he has for her is sharply tainted by how far he goes to ensure that she will never leave him. He possesses some self-awareness enough to recognize the futility of his actions, which include monitoring her 24/7 and making her believe she has the same dire illness as her mother. Shilo's continued escapes from the house and her growing rebellious nature completely frustrate Nathan, though he continues the lie as long as he possibly can, if only to convince himself he still has control over the most important thing in his life.
Little, if anything, in his life seems to offer him any relief, save perhaps as the Repo Man. Everything Nathan keeps tied down and buried is shunted into his work as GeneCo's organ repossessor. Not strictly a separate personality, as Nathan's moments of lucidity show, the Repo Man is the mask he wears, allowing him an outlet for his frustration and heartache to boil forth in rage and sadism. The Repo Man takes pride in his work where Nathan cannot, delighting particularly in causing his victims incalculable pain and suffering. An interesting facet of the Repo Man is his continued abiding love for Shilo, so much that he's calm and solicitous to her over the phone even in the midst of murdering a man for his spine.
It's clear, however, that even gutting people whose only crime was a late payment is not enough to keep his demons at bay, as the lines between begin to blur during moments of ratcheting stress and desperation. It's only until the film's climax that he's forced to admit to himself and to Shilo his deceptions, seeking her forgiveness.
Abilities:
The dystopian near-future requires a certain kind of Renaissance man, and Nathan is just the man to fill that niche. Nathan has extensive training, first and foremost as a surgeon specializing in cutting-edge organ transplant and in medical research. His secondary training is in combat, favoring bladed weaponry but extremely skilled in hand-to-hand. There's also evidence that he has a decent amount of skill in tracking his quarry for repossession purposes.
…he's also got a killer singing voice. Ba-dum-tish.
Sample Entry:
[ Phone ]
[Nathan takes a breath. A private man by nature, he's not particularly attuned to dealing with large groups of people in a cohesive fashion, but when the situation is dire, well…time to step up to the plate. He's been over what the town calls a "hospital" with a fine-toothed comb, scowling at the available resources at his disposal and arranging things to his preferences.]
The conditions in the hospital are subpar. Most of this equipment is antiquated; it belongs in a museum, not an operating theatre, but there is enough to get by with for now.
If anyone has medical expertise, I will need a surgical assistant and anesthesiologist as soon as possible. Normally this isn't how things are done, but I understand that's the way of this town. The more experience, the better, but in light of how there isn't a medical school in Mayfield, I can train you myself.
Applicants can stop by the hospital and ask for Doctor Nathan Wallace.
